Store Cattle Sale Report 8th October 2022

A good entry of store and breeding cattle with more breeding cattle on offer including a special dispersal of Pedigree Dexter on behalf of Mrs Foxton of Quarnford.

Breeding Section
Top price in the breeding section was £1470 for a Saler cow with a Simmental bull calf at foot from David Naylor of Glossop with a Hereford cow with a calf at foot from Messrs Bailey of Rushton sold for £1350 with another similar outfit from the same vendor at £1170.

The Pedigree Dexter cows from Mrs Foxton of Quarnford met with good interest and sold up to £520 for a Pedigree Dexter cow with a Pedigree Dexter heifer calf at foot with other outfits at £485 (twice) £475, and £445 etc.

A Hereford stock bull from Mrs Fox of Hurdlow exchanged hands for £1050.

Young Bulls
Top price was £980 paid for a bunch of 3 Simmental bulls from S D Driver of Chisworth with 4 more Simmental bulls at 7 months of age from the same vendor selling for £970 and an 11 month old Angus steer from Connor McGuinness of Stanley at £570.

Overall average achieved for young bulls was £565.48.

Steers
There were 257 steers on offer which achieved a top price of £1395 for an 18 month old Charolais steer from Sheila Kidd of Quarnford with another 19 month old Charolais steer from Ross Worthington of Edale at £1355 and an 18 month old Charolais steer from the same vendor at £1310. A 17 month old Charolais steer from R & M Hunter & Sons of Quarnford sold for £1230.

Angus steers from A P Wain of Draycott at 19 months of age topped at £1355 with a single 21 month old Angus steer from AD & J Potts of Astbury at £1240.

British Blue steers from CC & CJ Lovatt of Rushton sold up to £1300 at 22 months of age with a 25 month old British Blue steer from Anders Agriculture of Roston at £1275 and a bunch of 3 from Reg Simcock & Family of Endon at 24 months of age at £1240 with another pair from Elliott & Harriet Simcock of the same address at 24 months of age also selling for £1240.

A Hereford steer at 25 months of age from BT & B Kirkham of Leek sold for £1230 with Limousin steers at 17 months of age from JL Mellor & Partners of Sutton at £1185. A 17 month old Shorthorn steer from Peter Richardson of Ipstones sold for £1175 with a bunch of 4, 16 month old Limousins from the same vendor at £1290.

A pair of Bazadaise bullocks from Alan Buxton of Bollington at 19 months of age at £1275. Younger cattle sold up to £1065 for an 11 month old Blonde steer from EG Taylor & Partners of Rugeley.

Overall average for steers was £869.52.

Heifers
There were 264 heifers on offer which topped at £1205 for a pair of 18 month old Charolais from Sheila Kidd of Quarnford with another 4, 19 month old Charolais from Graham Weston of Longsdon at £1120 and a single 27 month old Simmental from Messrs Callwood at 27 months of age at £1195.

A bunch of 3, 23 month old Simmentals from R Rowlinson & Sons of Ramshorn achieved £1190 with a bunch of 3 Herefords at 29 months of age from John Brooks of Uttoxeter at £1170.

Limousin heifers sold up to £1095 with a 17 month old Limousin heifer from Joe Austin of Parwich at £1130. A pair of British Blue heifers from Anders Agriculture of Roston at 23 months of age achieved £1130 with 2 British Blue heifers from Stanier & Carnwell of Cheadle at £1090.

Montbeliarde heifers at 23 months of age from John Harvey of Waterfall achieved £1000 with an overall average achieved being £724.00.
