There were 453 Store and Breeding Cattle on offer with an excellent trade throughout and a good company of buyers at ringside.
Breeding Section
A small entry of breeding cattle was on offer with a 23-month-old Dexter cow with a 7-month-old Dexter Heifer calf achieving £710.
A Blonde suckler cow achieved £1550 for P J & J A Wain, Upper Hulme who had another Blonde to £1180 and a Limousin suckler cow to £1370.
Stock Bulls
A Limousin stock bull sold to £2600 for G R Spink, Grindon.
Young Bulls
Topping the young bull’s section was a 9-month-old British Blue bull which sold to £1410 for Pilkington Farms, Hartington who also sold two Simmental bulls at 13 months old for £1410 also. A pair of 9-month-old Limousin bulls sold to £1400 for the same vendor.
Steers
There were 229 steers on offer with a top price of £2490 being achieved for J Gilman & Partners of Bosley for a lovely 21-month-old Limousin. A bunch of four smart 22-month-old Limousin sold to £2000 for SP Richardson of Ipstones.
A 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £2400 for A G Mellor of Sutton, a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 23 months old sold to £2000 for F H White of Shottle and a 21-month-old Aberdeen Angus from P & C Palfreyman of Monyash sold to £2000 also.
British Blue steers topped at £2290 for a 26-month-old beast from G H Prince of Roston who also had a 25-month-old British Blue to £1920, and a 20-month-old British Blue sold to £2270 for G E Whitfield of Nantwich.
Hereford steers at 25 months old sold to £2270 for F H White of Shottle, who also sold another at 23 months old to £2180 and a 25-month-old Hereford for J J Blackwell & Sons of Dove Holes sold to £2240 who also sold a 21-month-old Hereford to £2000 and a bunch of three at 24 months old to £1980.
A 20-month-old Flekvieh sold to £2190 for R Hall & Sons of Croxden and a 19-month-old sold to £2170 for the same vendor.
A Welsh Black steer at 24 months of age sold to £2040 for F H White of Shottle.
Younger cattle sold particularly well with an 11-month-old Limousin from JM & ADJ Hayes of Alstonefield achieving £1590, a 10-month-old Limousin from J J Watson of Marple achieved £1590 also and a 9-month-old Limousin sold to £1450 for J J Watson also. A bunch of three 12-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £1440 for J H Kirk & Sons of Knutsford.
The overall average for steers was £1307.99.
Heifers
There were 183 heifers on offer with J Gilman & Partners of Bosley topping at £2370 for a 23-month-old Limousin and a pair of 17-month-old Limousin were very well sold at £1780 for D Machin of Horton.
A bunch of three 22-month-old British Blue sold to £2250 for H & G Hollinshead of Lichfield, a 32-month-old British Blue sold to £1950 for G W & R I Mellor & Son of Dilhorne and a bunch of three 22-month-old British Blue sold to £1900 for C C & C J Lovatt of Rushton Spencer.
A 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £2110 for F H White of Shottle who also sold a bunch of four at 24 months old to £1880 and a bunch of three 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold for £1920 for A G Mellor of Sutton
A South Devon at 26 months of age sold achieved £1760 for M & L Agriculture Ltd and a Welsh Black at 24 months of age sold to £1750 for F H White of Shottle.
Younger cattle sold to £1680 and £1500 for 11-month-old Limousin from J J Watson of Marple and a 14-month-old Blonde sold to £1490 for T C James of Eccleshall.
Overall average for heifers was £1149.36.
