There was a total of 497 Store & Breeding Cattle on offer on Saturday with strong bidding throughout seeing the overall average for steers over £200 up from two weeks ago.
Breeding Section
A smaller entry of breeding cattle this week, seeing competitive bidding and many more could have been sold.
A British Blue cow with a Hereford X bull calf sold to £2290 for G L Robertson of Kermincham with the same vendor achieving £1980 for a Holstein cow with a Hereford X heifer calf.
A Hereford cow with a Hereford heifer calf sold to £1720 for John Freeman of Eggington.
Young Bulls
A Belted Galloway bull at 12 months old sold to £1000 for RE & KM Clowes of Cheadle with a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 10 months to £970, a bunch of six Aberdeen Angus at 9 months to £840, a single Aberdeen Angus at 8 months to £750 and another pair at 8 months to £630, all for Ian Woodward of Duffield.
A 5-month-old Shorthorn bull sold to £770 for J & R Potts of Over Alderley.
Steers
A total of 302 steers were on offer with £2400 being paid twice, a British Blue at 25 months for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle and a 26-month-old Limousin for P J Stephens of Mottram St Andrew.
A bunch of four British Blue at 21 months old sold to £2320 for Agden Brook Partnership with a pair at 26 months old selling to £2250 for P J Stephens of Mottram St Andrew and another pair at 23 months old selling to £2220 for D Shenton of Altrincham.
A 21-month-old Limousin achieved £2390 for P F Hulse of Consall, P J Stephens had a 26-month-old Limousin to £2370, and J Jervis Partnership had a bunch of three Limousin at 24 – 25 months old to £2340.
Charolais steers sold to £2390 for a bunch of four at 16 months old for D Bowers of Bradley, who also had another bunch of four at 16 months old selling to £2270 and K W Dakin & Son of Macclesfield sold a single Charolais at 25 months old to £2350.
Aberdeen Angus achieved £2320 for a bunch of three at 24 months old for IJ & AM Barks of Blackshaw Moor, Adam Shaw of Ashbourne also achieved £2320 for a bunch of three at 18 months of age with a single at 17 months of age selling to £2300, also for Adam Shaw.
A 23-month-old Simmental sold to £2280 for D Shenton of Altrincham and a bunch of three Hereford sold to £2060 for D Holt Ltd of Furness Vale.
In the younger cattle, a 14-month-old Shorthorn steer sold to £1940 for P J Davenport of Calton and a bunch of three Charolais from 9 – 11 months old sold to £1670 for Waller Farms of Sutton.
The overall average for steers was a very pleasing £1582.94.

Heifers
A bunch of four British Blue also topped the heifers, at 22 months old selling for £2130 for Agden Brook Partnership who had another bunch of four at 20 months old selling to £1850 and a pair at 20 months old sold to £1690 for Woodward Partners of Rudyard.
Aberdeen Angus sold to £1980 for a bunch of four at 23 months old for DH Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel who also had a single at 23 months old selling to £1950.IJ & AM Barks of Blackshaw Moor sold a single Aberdeen Angus at 25 months of age to £1940.
A bunch of three Limousin heifers at 22 months of age sold to £1980 for IJ & AM Barks of Blackshaw Moor with a pair of Limousin at 27 months old selling to £1940 for WA Durose & Son of Stanton and a pair at 28 months selling to £1910 and £1900 for J E Carr of Cheddleton.
Herefords sold to £1900 for a bunch of three at 23 months old for IJ & AM Barks of Blackshaw Moor who also sold a 23-month-old Simmental to £1890.
In the younger cattle, a 15-month-old Simmental sold to £1560 for Stuart Frith of Thorpe and a 15-month-old Limousin sold to £1530 for W T Mardling & Son of Hilderstone
The overall average for heifers was £1162.20
