There were 446 Store and Breeding Cattle on offer with a good company of buyers from far and wide, once again seeing an increase in averages to a fortnight ago.
Breeding Section
An Aberdeen Angus cow with a bull calf sold to £1840 for M Cawser of Sudbury with a Limousin suckler cow with a Hereford bull calf achieved £1680 for E Harrison of Whiston.
A bunch of five Friesian breeding heifers achieved an average of £1658 per head to top at £1760 for E Vaughan & Sons of Newcastle Under Lyme.
Young Bulls
32 young bulls were on offer with a top price of £2200 for a Bazadaise bull at 18 months old from M Riley of Macclesfield.
A bunch of four Shorthorn bulls from 6 to 9 months old achieved an average of £1162.50 to top at £1320 for J & R Potts of Macclesfield.
A 6-month-old Simmental bull achieved £1300 for CA Garlick of Buxton, and an 8-month-old Limousin bull reached £1190 for RJ & KA Salt of Rudyard.
Steers
210 steers were on offer with a top price of £2360 achieved three times by three different vendors, with a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 24 months old from A Swinson of Macclesfield, a 20-month-old Aberdeen Angus from PT Salt & Sons of Whiston and a 21-month-old British Blue from PB Wain of Gawsworth.
A 21-month-old Charolais was close behind at £2340 for KW Dakin & Son of Macclesfield, a 19-month-old Charolais achieved £2280 for A Swinson of Macclesfield, a pair of 20-month-old Charolais reached £2250 for R Worthington of Edale and a bunch of three 20-month-old Charolais achieved £2180 for G & S Wright of Wooton.
A bunch of four Aberdeen Angus at 23 months old reached £2280 with another bunch of four at 22 months old achieving £2270 and a bunch of three at 29 months old selling to £2160, all for A Swinson of Macclesfield.
A 19-month-old British Blue steer achieved £2240 for PB Wain of Gawsworth and a pair of British Blue at 24 months old achieved £2140 for FH White of Belper.
A 23-month-old Hereford achieved £2190 for HM Deville & Son of Doveridge with a pair at 23 months old achieving £2120 for the same vendor.
Simmental steers topped at £2160 at 19 months old for KW Dakin & Son of Macclesfield, A Swinson of Macclesfield had Simmental at 31 months old to £2130 and a pair at 24 months old to £2080 with G & S Wright of Wooton achieving £2090 for a 17-month-old Simmental.
A pair of Limousin at 21 months old achieved £2060 for D Richardson of Ipstones.
Younger cattle achieved £2190 for a 12-month-old Limousin from WA & SR Williams of Knutsford who had another pair at 12 months reaching £2010.
The overall average for steers was a very pleasing £1619.21, an increase of over £70 per head on a fortnight ago.
Heifers
There were 193 heifers on offer, seeing heifers topping the market once again at £2390 for KW Dakin & Son of Macclesfield with a 22-month-old Charolais a bunch of three Charolais at 22 months old achieved £1945 for R Worthington of Edale.
A 25-month-old Aberdeen Angus achieved £2290 for S Finney of Lask Edge.
British Blue heifers at 20 months old topped at £2190 for PB Wain of Gawsworth with a trio of British Blue at 21 to 24 months old averaging £2030 to a top of £2070 for FH White of Belper.
Holstein Friesian at 25 months old achieved £2130 for Woodward Partners of Rudyard.
A 21-month-old Hereford from IE, M & A Wilson of Hollington reached £2100 with a 29-month-old Hereford achieving £1860 for A & WA Sadler of Great Wyrley.
22-month-old Limousin reached £1920 for J E Swindells of Leek, a bunch of five Limousin at 18 months old sold to £1860 for Summerclose Farm of Rainow, a bunch of three at 21 months old reached £1850 for S Finney of Lask Edge and a single 17-month-old Limousin achieved £1845 for D & EA Jeffery of Roston.
A pair of 21-month-old Simmental achieved £1810 for JE Swindells of Leek.
In the younger cattle, a trio of Blonde at 10 months old achieved £1630 for TC James of Eccleshall and three 10-month-old Limousin reached £1560 for JH & KA Thornhill of Disley.
The overall average for heifers was £1370.
