There were a total of 418 Store and Breeding Cattle on offer this week with prices a touch back from previous weeks.
Breeding Section
A Shorthorn cow with a heifer calf at foot topped the breeders at £2640 for RJ Teeboon of Chelmorton with a second similar outfit selling to £2560 for the same vendor. A Limousin cow with a steer calf sold to £2280 for RJ Teeboon also and an Aberdeen Angus cow with a male calf sold to £2200 for CA Paruzel of Ipstones Edge.
Stock Bulls
A Charolais bull at 27-month-old sold for £3500 for S Kidd of Quarnford and an Aberdeen Angus bull sold to £3150 for SF Oldfield & Son of Carsington.
Young Bulls
A Shorthorn bull at 12 months old sold to £1500 for SW Thornicroft of Macclesfield, a blonde bull at 15 months of age sold to £1360 for PE Southwell of Uttoxeter and a Simmental bull at 16 months old sold to £1360 for DH & JR Stanway of Biddulph Moor.
The overall average for young bulls was £1160.
Steers
There were 190 steers on offer with a bunch of three Limousin at 23 months old topping the day at £2450 for J Gilman & Partners of Bosley with another pair of Limousin, at the same age, close behind at £2430 for the same vendor. A single 24-month-old Limousin sold for £2085 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle and a bunch of three Limousin at 17 months old sold to £1800 for J Swindells of Leek.
A British Blue at 24 months old sold to £2290 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle with a 22-month-old British Blue achieving £2260 for M Atkinson of Stockport. A trio of British Blue at 24 months old sold to £1995 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle and a pair at 20 months old sold to £1940 for JG Curtis & Son of Basford.
A 24-month-old Charolais from an Ipstones vendor sold to £2200 with a Shorthorn steer at 34 months old selling to £2055 for E Southwell of Uttoxeter.
23-month-old Simmental steers sold to £2005 for R Collington of Wymeswold and a bunch of four at 27 months old achieved £1775 for DH & JR Stanway of Biddulph Moor.
A 21-month-old Hereford steer from CJ Hidderley of Ipstones sold to £1940 with another at 23 months old selling to £1790 for the same vendor.
A 19-month-old Flekvieh sold to £1910 for JG Curtis & Son of Basford with another at 20 months old selling to £1875 from the same farm.
A single 35-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £1740 for DP Beswick of Ipstones Edge.
A pair of Blonde steers at 18 months old achieved £1690 for J Swindells of Leek.
Younger cattle sold well with an 8 month old British Blue steer achieving £1640 for P Hall & T Hunt of Combs and a bunch of six Limousin at 10 months old selling to £1440 for Alan Hayes & Family of Alstonefield.
The overall average for steers was a £1375.74.
Heifers
There were 186 heifers on offer with Limousin at the top again, seeing a single 23-month-old achieve £2280 for J Gilman & Partners of Bosley and a single at 22 months old achieved £1885 for BD & M Hudson of Ipstones.
A 30-month-old Simmental sold to £1935 for DP Beswick of Ipstones Edge with a 32-month-old , Shorthorn selling to £1885 from P Southwell of Uttoxeter.
Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £1935 at 33 months old for D Beswick of Ipstones Edge with another pair at 35 months old selling to £1890 for R & J Shore of Biddulph, D Beswick of Ipstones Edge had another pair at 27 months old selling to £1840 and a pair at 30 months old achieved £1800 for the same vendor.
British Blue heifers at 21 months old achieved £1880 for C Nash of Dayhills with a single at 23 months old selling to £1840 for M Atkinson of Stockport.
A 15-month-old Hereford heifer sold to £1580 for D Torr of Ilam, a pair of Welsh Black at 23 months old sold to £1500 for BD & M Hudson of Ipstones and a 24-month-old Longhorn heifer sold to £1405 for Proctor Farming of Brown Edge.
Younger heifers also sold very well with 13-month-old Limousin to £1780- and 10-month-old Limousin to £1780, both from MA Bowyer of Cheadle.
The overall average for heifers was £1248.92
