Store Lambs
There were 3,991 Store Lambs being presented for sale, seeing a firm trade throughout with a good company of buyers in attendance.
Top price for the day was £128 paid for a pen of Suffolk Ewe Lambs from Philip Hooley of Wildboarclough with other mixed Suffolks up to £123 from Rosie Watson of Fenny Bentley, £116 from Philip Hooley, £114.50 from P & M Hayward & Son of Chapel en le Frith and£107 from Harold Wainwright of Pott Shrigley.
Texel mixed Lambs from Mark Rowlinson of Ramshorn were well sold up to £128 with a pen from L S Riley of Longnor at £118 with the same price being paid for another pen from JW Bailey of Congleton and £115 from J Naylor of Hulme End.
Rouge X Store Lambs from Mr Lemon of Atlow topped at £118 with another pen from the same vendor at £117.
Beltex mixed Lambs from Messrs Smith of Cheddleton sold up to £117.
Aberfield Lambs from David Torr of Ilam topped at £113 with Lleyn Lambs from AR & KC Turnock of Longnor at £112.50 and £109.50.
Charollais mixed Lambs from MW Woodward of Whiston achieved up to £109 with another pen from Messrs Clark of Hope Valley at £108 and Jacobs from E Kirkham of Hartington topping at £106.
There was a high proportion of smaller Lambs on offer with the overall average achieved being £91.38.
Ewe Lambs
There were 273 Breeding Ewe Lambs on offer seeing Texel Ewe lambs from S & D Fearn of Wardlow Myers selling up to £145 (4 times) with another pen of Texels from Mark Rowlinson of Ramshorn at £140 and a second pen from the same vendor at £135.
Mule Ewe Lambs from George Wainwright & Family of Bamford sold up to £130 with Suffolk Ewe Lambs from Alan Hayes of Alstonefield up to £128 for two pens.
A pen of Jacob Ewe Lambs, from George Wainwright of Bamford exchanged hands for £112 with Mashams from the same vendor up to £110 and Ryelands at £92 from Mr Brown of Hope Valley.
Overall average achieved for Ewe Lambs was £127.51
Shearlings & Ewes
There were 1,086 Shearling Ewes on offer with the top price for good quality Texels being £295 for Mr Read of Uttoxeter with other Texels from E Morten & Sons from Barmoor Clough at £270, a second pen from Mr Read at £265 and pens from Ann Porter of Cauldon Lowe at £250.
Mule Shearling Ewes from Wayne Allen of Butterton sold up to £275 with a pen from Steven Allen of Butterton at £250, £245 from James Ball of Cheddleton and £245 also, from Helen White of Snelston.
Suffolk Shearlings from B Jones of Idridgehay achieved £245 with Welsh Mule Shearlings from Philip Williams of Tean at £235, Cheviots from Chris Wood of Cauldon Lowe at £205 and Dorsets up to £200 from E Kirkham of Hartington.
Overall average for Shearlings was £196 94.
Older Ewes, of which there were 270 sold up to £270 for Border Leicester Ewes from J Walker of Meerbrook with another pen from the same vendor at £260.
