7,782 Store Lambs and Breeding Sheep
A total entry of 7,782 store Lambs and breeding sheep with buyers in attendance from a wide area.

Store Lambs
There were 5,963 store lambs with a firmer trade than a fortnight ago with some excellent prices achieved with plenty of buyers around the ring.

Top price of the day was £142 for Texel X lambs from Tim Piper and family of Doveholes with others from Nicola Beardsley of Weston Underwood at £138.

Ewe Lambs topped at £245 (twice) for Texels from R S Hulme of Calton, LR & MJ Lowe of Upper Hulme had three pens of Texel to £178, £172 and £158.

Shearlings (801) – Average £195.83
Another solid entry and an increase in the averages compared to a fortnight ago.

Mule topped the shearlings at £270, £245, £240 and £235 for GV & P Matkin of Kirk Ireton, £265 for JF & IM Hill & Son of Furness Vale, £255 for P Hall & T Hunt of Combs and £235 for P H Williams, Tean.

Cheviot sold to £230 (twice) for R G Emmot of Stockport.

E Morten & Sons of Barmoor Clough sold Texel to £225 (twice), £220 (twice) and £215 (twice), A M Jones, Rorrington sold Texel to £225.

An increased entry in the ewes with averages up on the sale a fortnight ago.
