Breeding Section
There were less suckler cows on offer this week with a Limousin cow with a Hereford heifer calf at foot with the cow being PD’d back in calf to the Hereford from John Davies of Biddulph Moor exchanging hands for £1400 with another Hereford cow with a Hereford heifer calf of similar note from the same vendor at £1280.
K Parker from Rugeley sold a Hereford cow with a Simmental steer calf at foot with the cow being PD’d back in calf 5 months to the Hereford for £1470.
In calf cows sold up to £1030 from Mr Brown of Gawsworth.
Young Bulls
There was more young bulls on offer this week with top price being £795 for a bunch of 4, 14 month British Blues from WE Turnock & Sons with a Shorthorn 9 month old bull from Andrew Trueman of Quarnford at £750, 3 Holstein x bulls at 14 months of age from WE Turnock & Sons at £705, a 12 month old Hereford at £616 from the same vendor, 11 month old Limousin bull from WE Turnock & Sons again sold for £555 with others at £530 for Holsteins, £520 for 6 month old British Blues.
There were a number of smaller sorts on offer which reduced the average to £527.37.
Steers
There were 258 steers on offer with the top price of the day being £1160 for a bunch of 4, 27 month old Herefords from Beechcliffe Farms Partners of Trentham with a bunch of 3 Angus, 18 months old from TJ Hargreaves of Gratton at £1125 and another bunch of 3, 18 month old Angus from the same vendor at £1000.
British Blue steers from RG & AS Williamson from Wetley Rocks sold up to £1120 at 13 months of age with a pair of 26 month old British Blues from the same vendor at £1095 and a single 23 month old at £1035.
A bunch of 4 good quality Simmental steers at 23 months of age from R Shaw of Biddulph at £1095 with a bunch of 3 from the same vendor 21 months of age at £1050.
3 Limousin steers from J Hudson of Ipstones at 18 months of age sold for £1040 with a single 16 month old from G Goodwin of Wetley Rocks at £995 and a pair from J Hudson of Ipstones at 17 months of age at £980.
A pair of 17 month old Charolais from S Kidd of Quarnford were well sold at £995 with 5, 25 month old dairy Shorthorn steers from M Renshaw of Butterton at £975 and a 18 month old Bazadaise from A Buxton of Bollington at £910. Montbeliarde steers from J Carr of
Cheddleton at 22 months of age sold up to £870. A bunch of 3 Danish Red steers from Mollatt Partnership of Field sold for £825 with Holsteins at 17 months of age up to £750 from the same vendors.
Young cattle sold up to £900 for a excellent shaped 8 month old Limousin from P Watson of Stockport with a 10 month old Limousin from J & A Worthington of Macclesfield at £870, a 9 month old Limousin at £835 from J Davies of Biddulph and a Blonde 10 month old from EG Taylor & Partners of Rugeley at £830.
Overall average for steers was £685.19.
Heifers
There were 186 heifers on offer with the top price of the day being £1170 achieved for a pair of excellent shaped 31 month old Charolais from KW Dakin of Lower Withington with another 19 month old Charolais from R Worthington of Edale at £1110 and a pair of 17 month old from S Kidd at £1080.
British Blue heifers from RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks sold up to £1130 with a pair from the same vendor at £1095 at 24 months of age and 2 British Blue heifers from S & C O’Rourke of Martin at £1060.
Younger British Blues at 18 months of age from J Bailey & Sons of Greenway Bank sold for £1020.
Limousin heifers from RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks sold up to £960 at 20 months of age with a bunch of 3, 22 months old Simmentals from R Shaw of Biddulph at £945.
Younger cattle sold up to £750 for 12 month old Limousins from DA & LM Moss of Rushton Spencer and another 12 month old Limousin from SB Mellor & Sons of Winkhill at £705. A pair of 12 month old British Blue heifers from TD & DA Higginson of Knutsford at £680
Overall average for heifers was £672.47.
