There was an excellent entry of 531 store and breeding cattle on offer with trade very similar to last week and a good company of buyers in attendance.
Breeding Section
Cows with calves at foot achieved up to £1390 for a Simmental cow with a Hereford bull calf at foot from K E Grocott of Leigh with £1310 for a Hereford cow with a Hereford calf at foot from Miss S Moss of Hadfield.
2 Limousin cows both PD’d in calf with the Limousin from Mr A Millward of Dilhorne selling up to £1320 (twice) and £1285 for an Aberdeen Angus from K E Grocott of Leigh sold having run with the bull.
A third reduction sale from Stephen Edwards of Bottomhouse sold up to £1080 for pedigree Aberdeen Angus cows being scanned in calf to the Aberdeen Angus bull with another from the same vendor at £1075 and £1005.
Young Bulls
There was only a small entry of 15 being on offer achieving a top price up to £655 for a 12 month old British Blue from Jackie Mathias of Nantwich with 13 month old Red Poll bulls up to £570.
Steers
There were 291 steers on offer with a top price being £1395 for a pair of good quality Charolais steers at 23 months of age from John Driver of Glossop with another 22 month old Charolais from the same vendor at £1200.
Simmental steers from LA & MA Done & Son of Bosley sold up to £1340 for a 23 month old beast with a pair of 12 month old Simmental steers, no name up to £1175.
Hereford steers at 23 months of age from F F Finney & Sons of Dilhorne topped at £1285 with another 24 month old from LA & MA Done & Son of Bosley at £1240 and a 21 month old Hereford from K W Dakin & Son of Macclesfield at £1165.
British Blue steers from Mrs Mees of Stafford sold up to £1255 at 26 months of age with another 21 month old British Blue steer from J & D Norbury of Altringham at £1170. Good quality Angus steers at 20 months of age from S Pennington & Son of Altringham sold up to £1225 with a 21 month old Angus steer from K W Dakin & Son of Macclesfield at £1185 and a bunch of 3, 19 month old Angus from Joseph Torr Ltd of Macclesfield at £1100.
Overall average for steers was a pleasing £845.55.

Heifers
There were 202 heifers on offer with a top price being £1255 for a 27 month old British Blue from Mrs Mees of Stone with a 24 month old Limousin from WJ & MA Bowyer of Cheadle at £1195 with another 24 month old Limousin from LA & MA Done & Son of Bosley at £1150.
Simmental heifers from the same vendor sold up to £1140 at 24 months of age with another bunch of 3, 27 month old Simmentals, at £1135.
A bunch of 3 Charolais from John Driver of Glossop at 22 months sold up to £1100 with Angus topping at £1090 for a 24 month old heifer from Robert Flower of Alstonefield with a bunch of 4, 27 month old Hereford heifers from TD & S Prince of Ashbourne at £1075 and another single 23 month old Hereford heifer from F Finney & Son of Dilhorne at £1050.
Younger cattle sold up to £895 for a bunch of 3, 12 month old British Blue heifers from Robert Flower to produce an average of £758.51 overall.
