A good entry of over 420 store and breeding cattle with more breeding cattle on offer with quality types in all sections.
Breeding Section
A young Aberdeen Angus cow at 48 months with a heifer calf at foot topped the breeding section at £1260 from David Green and Family at Whiston with the Tunnicliffe Family of Quarnford achieving £1130 for a Shorthorn cow with a 58 day Shorthorn heifer calf.
Feeding cows achieved up to £1345 for an 11 year old Charolais cow from Bill Woodruff of Draycott in the Moors.
Pedigree Belted Galloways attracted interest from as far afield as Northamptonshire and topped at £830 for a 17 month Pedigree Bulling heifer from J B Dart of Rowarth. Dexters with calves topped at £300.
Young Bulls
A mixed trade with 27 months British Blue at £1170, 11 month British Blues at £950 and a Limousin X bull from Joe Austin at 13 months of age at £840.
Steers and Heifers
Stylish Bazadaise steers up to £950 at 16 months from Alan Buxton of Bollington with Messrs Mellor at Winkhill having homebred British Blue steers to £1095 and Limousin steers to £1090 at 13 months of age.
Messrs Turnock of Wincle received £770 for Limousin heifers at 6 months old with the Goodalls of Cubley achieving £940 for named Herefords at 7 months of age.
Some very shapely British Blue x from Messrs Yates of Alstonefield topped at £1010 and Limousins from the same farm achieved £1015 at 9 months of age.
The Hudson Family of Wetton Mill topped at £1045 for a Simmental heifer at 14½ months.
In the bottom shed a wide variety of older cattle on offer and numerous purchasers ready for stocking yards with strong cattle particularly those already warmed with a little late summer corn.

A real strong pen of British Blue steers from Mr T J Hargreaves of Endon started the strong cattle run properly receiving £1220 for good types at 18-19mths. The Archers at Derby had well shaped beef bred British Blue steers to £1275 at 23 months
Long term Leek supporter Julie Mees from Aston, Stone sent a consignment to top at £1450 for a British Blue steer at 28 months and another British Blue steer at £1375 at 23 months with Simmental and Angus heifers from the same home at 27months both topping at £1220.

David Curtis and Family showed a run of cattle already well warmed with corn and definitely saw the benefits

The day culminated with a short run of strong Hereford Heifers, well grown and heavy from Messrs Bradbury of Longnor to a top of £1265 and £1250 at 25 and 29 months.
