Steers reported a very pleasing overall average of £1080 with Heifers averaging £952.
Breeding Section
There was a good demand for Cows with Calves at Foot with an entry of Stabiliser Heifers with Limousin Calves at Foot selling up to £1800 from K Burton of Uttoxeter and £1720 both outfits having mal Calves at Foot with another outfit with a Limousin Heifer Calf at Foot selling for £1460.
A Seabridge from Holywood sold a Limousin Cow with a Limousin Heifer Calf at Foot for £1500 with another outfit with a Bull Calf at Foot for £1460.
A strong Hereford Cow sold free of the Bull for Messrs Sykes of Rainow was well sold at £1325 with a British Blue maiden Heifer for Mr Holworth of Peak Forest at £1240.
Stock Bulls
Stock Bulls sold to £1790 paid for a Pedigree South Devon 10 month old Bull for Mr Crow of Telford with an Aberdeen Angus Bull at 25 months of age from Messrs Cottrill of Bamford exchanging hands for £1430 and a 5 year old Galloway stock bull form J Elliot of Sheffield being well sold at £1630.
Young Bulls
42 Young Bulls on offer with Hereford Bulls from Stafford selling up to £855 with other Herefords at £850 and £840.
Dairy Shorthorn Bulls sold up to £675 with a 12 month old Limousin from Messrs Sutton of Congleton at £595 and a packet of 4 month old Hereford Bulls from T Fox of Hurdlow selling for £500 each.
Overall average achieved for Young Bulls was £533.55
Steers
There were 250 Steers on offer with Simmental Steers topping the section from Rushton Spencer at £1640 and other Simmentals from Messrs Mees of Stone at 27 months of age at £1565 and £1485.
A Bunch of six Aberdeeen Angus 24-month-old Steers were particularly well sold at £1590 from Rushton Spencer with another bunch of five 24-month-old at £1460 from the same vendor.
A single 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus Steer from G Hughes of Bucknall sold for £1450 with a 28 month old Aberdeen Angus from Messrs James of Horton at £1440 and a bunch of four 21 month old Aberdeen
Angus from A Turnock & Sons of Horton at £1440.
British Blue Steers were in good demand up to £1560 for a pair of 25-month-old Bullocks from D Curtis & Family of Cheddleton with a single 24-month-old British Blue Steer selling particularly well from S Jolley
of Endon at £1545 and a 27 month old British Blue from Messrs Mees of Stone at £1545.
A pair of 19-month-old British Blue Steers from R Simcock of Endon were well sold at £1480.
Limousin Steers at 19 months of age from S Machin of Stanley were well sold for £1495 with a 24 month old Limousin Steer from R & M Philips & Sons of Buxton at £1470 and another 18 month old Limousin from S Machin at £1445.
Hereford Steers from Messrs Sykes of Rainow at 16 months of age sold for £1455, with other Herefords up to £1400 from a new vendor, B Wood of Sandbach, at 24 months of age with a 16-month-old Hereford from I Wilson & Family being well sold at £1385.
Flekvieh Steers from Messrs James of Horton at 21 months of age sold up to £1290 with Friesian Steers from D Gould of Waterhouses at 25 months of age up to £1230, Welsh Black Steers from Messrs James of Horton at 22 months of age up to £1220.
Younger Cattle sold up to £990 for a 13-month-old Charolais from S Kidd farmers of Longnor with 14-month-old British Blue Steers from BN Capewell & Sons from Gratwich at £1075.
Other young British Blue Steers from Messrs Minshull of Bosley at 11 months old achieved up to £1040 with 6- and 8-month-old good shaped Charolais Steers from Waller Farms of Sutton meeting good competition, selling between
£840 and £865.
Heifers
There were 195 Heifers on offer with a Limousin Heifer topping at £1580 for J Beech of Cellarhead at 25 months of age with another bunch of three 23-month-old Limousin Heifers from the same vendor at £1420.
Simmental Heifers topped at £1425 from Joel Pudsey of Quarnford with a pair of 27-month-old Simmental Heifers from Messrs Mees of Stone at £1420 with other Limousins up to £1390 at 19 months of age from S Machin of Stanley.
British Blue Heifers at 22 months of age from Joel Pudsey of Quarnford sold up to £1295 with others at 24 months of age from D Curtis & Family at £1235 and a bunch of three 23-month-old British Blue Heifers from I Wilsom & Family at £1020.
Hereford Heifers from a new vendor, B Wood of Sandbach, sold for £1215 with another 16 month old Hereford Heifer from I Wilson & Family at £1205.
Saler Heifers at 20 months of age from Mr Hallworth of Buxton sold for £1100 with Blonde Heifers from J Haynes of Stone at 30 months of age achieving £1075.
Younger Cattle sold up to £900 for a 13-month-old British Blue Heifer from BN Capewell & Sons of Gratwich with Limousins of 12 months of age from P Witham of Marston Montgomery at £855 and a Simmental from S Fox of Biddulph at 11 months of age at £815.
