A total of 450 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer this week seeing top prices of £2,850 for a Charolais Heifer and Calf.
Breeding Section
A good shaped Charolais heifer with a young bull calf at foot from J Frizell Agri Ltd of Crewe topped the market at £2850 with an in-calf Charolais heifer, dur to the Limousin bull in October, was well sold at £2150 from the same vendor.
A pedigree Longhorn heifer with a Longhorn bull calf at foot, again from the same vendor, exchanged hands for £2120.
Young Bulls
Some decent young bulls on offer with plenty of bidders ringside.
Top price was £1680 for a 21-month-old Aberdeen Angus bull from James Forrester of Tean with a British Blue from SJ Bradbury of Tideswell at 17 months old selling for £1560, a 12-month-old Simmental bull from the same vendor at £1500 and a 16-month Limousin bull, also from Mr Bradbury at £1480. A pair of Belted Galloway bulls from B Richardson of Reapsmoor, at 11 months old, were bid for keenly at £1180.
Steers
240 steers were on offer with a very keen trade throughout with some excellent prices and an excellent company of buyers.
Top price was £2430 for a 21-month-old British Blue steer from R & H Bates & Sons of Marton and another British Blue steer from the same vendor at 22 months old achieved £2300 with another, again from R & h Bates & Sons at 20 months at £2230.
A good shaped Shorthorn steer from Barnslee, Rushton at 27 months old achieved £2210, a 19-month-old Limousin steer from Joe Austin of Parwich was well sold at £2100 and a pair of British Blue steers from J & D Skidmore of Chelmorton at 25 months old achieved £2090.
A bunch of six strong Aberdeen Angus steers at 22 months old from David Swinson of Rushton sold to £2050.
