There was 173 Store and Breeding cattle on offer with a firm trade for all types of cattle with vendors being well satisfied with the prices achieved.
Breeding Section
There was a shortage of quality cows with calves at foot with the top price being £1130 paid for a Pedigree Angus cow with an Angus heifer calf at foot from Messrs Pointon of Biddulph.
A pair of In calf Beef Shorthorn heifers from Keith Hargreaves of Winkhill sold up to £860 with another at £780.
Young Bulls
Top price paid was £680 for a 9 month old British Blue bull from M & D Barber of Blore with a pair of 6 month old Charolais bulls from the same vendor at £600 with a number of smaller sorts on offer reducing the average to £512.
Steers
There were 65 steers on offer with a top price being £1290 achieved for British Blue steers at 27 months of age from S C Lawton of Barthomley for a bunch of 3, with other British Blue steers from the same vendor at a similar ages at £1150 for a bunch of 4.
Limousin steers from Colin Lymer of Cheddleton at 22 months of age sold up to £1190 with Limousin Steers at S C Lawton of Barthomley at 24 months of age also selling for £1190.
Another 26 month old Limousin steer from Colin Lymer sold for £1130.
Aberdeen Angus steers from S C Lawton at 24 months of age, achieved £1130 for a pair with Angus steers from Peter Salt of Whiston at 19 months of age selling particularly well for £1115. A Shorthorn steer at 16 months of age from J & A Worthington of Macclesfield was well sold at £1080 with a Longhorn steer at 22 months of age from J P & S A Carr of Roston at £1,000. Holstein steers from the same vendor at 25 months of age sold up to £900.
Younger cattle topped at £870 for a pair of 9 and 10 month old Limousin steers from K L Potts of Mottram St Andrew, with a 9 month old Limousin steer from J P & S A Carr of Ashbourne at £845.
11 month old Simmentals from Messrs Bower of Hollingworth sold up to £780 with 7 month old Limousin steers from Frith Bros of Thorpe being particularly well sold at £770 with a single 9 month old Limousin steer from the same vendor at £840.
A British Blue 9 month old steer from Brian Needham and Family of Heaton was well sold at £800.
Overall average achieved for steers was £881.15.
Heifers
There were 91 heifers on offer with a top price being £1100 for a 35 month old British Blue heifer from S Morrell of Cauldon Lowe with a 28 month old Simmental heifer from Steve Branson at 28 months of age selling for £1060 and another 34 month old British Blue heifer at £1030 from S Morrell of Cauldon Lowe.
Keith Minshull and Family of Bosley sold British Blue heifers at 15 to 17 months of age up to £930 with another bunch at £880. Angus heifers at 19 months of age from G Baskerville & Co of Kings Bromley sold up to £850. Younger cattle including 12 month old Limousin heifers from Frith Brothers of Thorpe selling particularly well at £790 and a bunch of 7 and 8 month old Limousin heifers from the same vendors at £740.
3 bunches of 7 and 8 month old British Blue heifers from J Venables & Son of Lower Withington achieved a lot of interest and sold up to £590 with another bunch at £540 and a third bunch at £520.
