Breeding Section
A small entry of breeding cattle on offer this week with an Aberdeen Angus X cow, which had been running with the bull, achieving £1710 for EM Harrison of Whiston who also had a second at £1480. A Limousin cow sold to £1640 for SE & AR Buxton, Derbyshire.
Young Bulls
32 weaned bulls were on offer with a top price of £1990 for a trio of Limousin at 10 months old from J Hargreaves of Stockton Brook who had other Limousin to £1800 at 8 months old, £1790 at 10 months old and £1700 at 9 months old. A pair of 12-month-old Limousin achieved £1930 for E Sims of Stockton Brook and a trio of 13-month-old Limousin reached £1730 for JL Mellor & Partners of Sutton.
A British Blue bull at 10 months old sold for £1940 for A Kidd of Congleton
The overall average for young bulls was a very respectful £1293.39.
Steers
There were 175 steers on offer with a top price of £2670 for a 27-month-old Charolais from SE & AR Buxton of Derbyshire who had others to £2590 and £2490 at 25 and 22 months old respectively.
A 22-month-old Limousin sold to £2400 for SE & AR Buxton of Derbyshire, a pair of Limousin at 22 months old achieved £2060 for SC Machin of Stanley with a single at 26 months old selling to £1985 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle.
A single 31-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £2180 for PW Massey of Snelson, a single Aberdeen Angus at 24 months old achieved £2110 for CC & CJ Lovatt of Rushton Spencer and a pair of Aberdeen Angus at 21 months old sold to £1920 for D & D Gould of Waterhouses.
A Pair of 26-month-old British Blue sold to £2090 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle with another pair at 19 months old selling to £1800 for Birchwood Park Farms of Roston.
Hereford at 24 months old sold to £1970 for GA & CJ Mellor of Rugeley with a bunch of four Hereford at 20 months old achieving £1795 for D & D Gould of Waterhouses.
A 17-month-old Simmental sold to £1870 from The Red Lion Inn Ltd of Dayhills with a 26-month-old Simmental selling to £1870 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle.
Younger cattle sold very well with a 12-month-old Limousin to £1960 from CM Rowlinson Ltd of Mayfield with the same vendor selling 14-month-old Limousin to £1880 and a bunch of four Limousin at 13 months to £1830. NM Darlington of Nantwich had a bunch of four Limousin at 14 months old to £1885. A British Blue steer at 11 months old achieved £1710 for A Kidd of Congleton.
The overall average for steers was a £1454.57, an increase of just over £82/head on a fortnight ago.
Heifers
There were 200 heifers on offer this week with a 24-month-old Limousin topping at £2300 for E Sims of Stockton Brook, a 26-month-old Limousin achieved £2050 for AP Wain from Forsbrook with another at 26 months old selling to £2040 for J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle. A Limousin at 24 months old achieved £1980 for CC & CJ Lovatt of Rushton Spencer and a single at 22 months old sold to £1940 for SC Machin of Stanley.
A British Blue heifer at 25 months old sold to £1980 for SC Machin of Stanley who also sold another pair at 26 months old to £1840 and a trio at 25 months old to £1830.
A pair of Aberdeen Angus at 29 months old sold to £1970 for PW Massey of Snelson with a single at 26 months old selling to £1840 for CC & CJ Lovatt of Rushton Spencer.
Charolais at 31 months old sold to £1900 for a pair from G Goodwin of Wetley Rocks.
An 18-month-old Simmental from P Gibson of Rookery sold to £1850 and an INRA95 at 21 months sold to £1685 for J Hughes of Cheddleton.
Younger cattle again sold very well with 14-month-old Hereford to £1630 for NM Darlington of Nantwich, 14-month-old Limousin sold to £1570 for JL Mellor & Partners of Sutton with 12-month-old Limousin to £1540 for CM Rowlinson Ltd of Mayfield who also had 11-month-old British Blue to £1540. A 14-month-old Shorthorn heifer made £1520 for E Trueman of Quarnford.
The overall average for heifers was £1336.53, an increase of over £94 on a fortnight ago.
