A busy day in the pig shed today with 103 head of breeding, stores and weaners for auction, with all types in demand.
Breeding Pigs (8)
Breeding pigs sold well with 3 maiden Gilts from S Booth, Lymm selling at £125/head. Others include a saddleback Gilt from M & R Shimwell, Hulland Village selling at £90 and a sow from the same home to £85.
A Lop boar sold at £100 from S Booth, Lymm. With another boar from the same home to £60, and a Pietrain x Landrace Boar to £65 from C Blackshaw.
Store Pigs (51)
Good trade in the store pig section, with an average price of £50/head. Topping at £82/head for a pen of 4 gilts at 74kg from D Hodgkinson, Burton Upon Trent. Others from the same home made up to £74/head and £66/head for similar sorts.
Other notable prices included £48 for a pen of 13 at 29kg from A Worth, Marton. Other Top prices included £48/head for a pen of 4 at 36kg from S Booth, Lymm.
Weaners (44)
Weaners in good demand with an average price of £27/head. Top Prices included £38/head for a pen of 11 weaners at 19kg from R Watson, Fenny Bentley. Another pen at £38/head for a pen of 5 at 21 kg from R A O Johnson, Breadsall.
