Another warm Saturday in the pig shed, more numbers about today with 89 head of pigs on offer.
Breeding pigs (14)
After the past few sales with limited numbers today did no disappoint with plenty of breeding pigs about with a wide range of breeding pigs on offer today. A pair of in-pig saddleback gilts achieved £150 each from R S Bowers, Twemlow. 2 Gilts from G Longsdon, Hope Valley achieved £95/head. An in-pig sow from T Smith, Stafford achieved £80. A breeding boar from J Edwards, Chesterfield achieved £60, similarly a breeding boar from Alan Worth achieved £60.
Store pigs (10)
Store pigs were in strong demand, with an average of £44/head. Top prices included a pen of 8 weighing £47kg/head from P Allen, Ashbourne selling for £45/head. A pen of 2 weighing 32kg/head for, T smith, Stafford, achieved £40/head.
Weaners (65)
Plenty of weaners about today with weaners averaging £29.78/head white pigs were in strong demand with coloured pigs hard to place. Top prices from T Smith, Stafford with a pen of 7 at 23kg/head achieved £44/head. Alan Worth, Marton had a pen of 10 at 23Kg/head to £40/head. With plenty more pens to in the mid to late £30’s.
