Today’s sale saw 161 head of pigs on offer. With mix of breeding, fat store and weaner pigs. Trade patch today with quality pigs in demand, 100% sale today with some pleasing prices reached.
Breeding pigs (11)
A few breeding stock about today, top prices included £100 for a pure Pietrain Gilt from S Walker, Beoley. Other prices included £75 for a sow and 10 piglets at foot and £70 for a sow and 5 from M Halliday, Mold. Breeding stock still remains hard work.
Fat Pigs (16) Average £69.38
A few fat pigs on offer varying in size top prices included £103 for a boar from S Ruff, Macclesfield Forrest, a pen of two from the same home released £95 head and another pen pf 4 realised £82/head. Two boars from S, Walker realised £67/head and a gilt from the same home realised £65.
Store pigs (70) Average £34.56
A mixed entry of store pigs today with quality varying best sorts to £54/head for a pen of 8 weighting 53Kg from S Walker, Beoely. Other top prices from D Hall, Kinglsey, included a pen of 4 at 46kg/head realising £50/head. With the plainer smaller types generally £25- £35.
Weaners (64) Average £19.20
A mixed entry of weaners, with quality not as good as previous weeks. Top prices include £22/head for a pen 8 at 15kg/head from N Kay, Peak Forrest. A pen of 3 from S, realised £29/head Walker, Beoely Two pens of Gloucester’s from A Robinson, Church Broughton realised £27 and £25 respectively.
