A mixed trade in the pig shed today with 141 head of offer. Some stronger types of weaners and store pigs sold on a good trade, with plainer types much harder work, with breeding stock still remining very hard work.
Breeding pigs (13)
Breeding pigs remain hard work, with no real stand outs. Prices included, £50 for a Pure Duroc Boar from M Halliday, Mold. A pair of Large black breeding sows achieved £27/head from D Civil, Checkley.
Fat Pigs (7) Average £53.57
A few fat pigs on offer top prices included, 3 Hampshire x fat pigs weighing 113kg/head achieved £65/head. Two boars from the same home achieved £51/head.
Store pigs (50) Average £35.22
A mixed entry of store pigs with strong growing types a good trade, with plainer types harder work. Top prices from D H Paulson, Llangadog, with a pen of 7 Welsh x weighing 48kg achieving £52/head, with another pen of 6 from the same home achieving £55/head. Other top prices included £36/head from S Thompson, Belper for a pen of 4 saddlebacks weighing 45kg. A Pen of Pietrain x weighing 40kg from P Barker, Charnwood realised £38/head. Other plainer sorts trading around the £15-£25 mark.
Weaners (71) Average £16.11
A mixed entry of weaners on offer today, generally trading between the £10-£20 mark. Top prices from J Robinson, Church Broughton with a pen of 9 Pure Gloucester Old Spot Weaners weighing 21kg/head realised £29/head. Other top prices from R A O Johnson, Derby with a pen of 9 realised £26/head. A pen of 5 weighing 6kg/head from M Halliday, Mold realised £10/head.
