A much-improved trade this month across the board. 155 head on offer today with a 100% sale. Weaners and breeding pigs much improved.
Breeding pigs (7)
A modest entry of breeding pigs, top price included a sow and 8 piglets from A Hedges, Hulland Ward realising £130. An in-pig sow from S Walker, Beoley realised £105. A sow and 9 from S Thompson, Belper realised £95.
Fat Pigs (2) Average £ 85
Just the two fat pigs on offer today, two coloured pigs from A Skinner releasing £85/head.
Store pigs (61) Average £39.12
A much-improved trade for store pigs, generally lighter types on offer between 35-45kg. Trade topped for a pen of 3 gilts weighing 36kg from M Spendlove, Belper realising £60/head, with another 3 from the same home weighing 38kg realising £60/head. 7 Pietrain x Large White stores weighing 50kg from S+J Coupland, Bradley achieved £50/head. Plainer sorts harder to place trading around the £30 mark.
Weaners (85) Average £26.24
A much-improved trade for weaners today with the average up on the previous sale. Top price from W Smith, Basford with a pen of 7 weighing 18kg realising £40/head. P Roberts had a pen of 12 weighing13kg and a pen of 5 weighing 13kg realising £32/head and £28/head respectively. J Robinson, Church Broughton, had a pen of 8 weighing 27kg and a pen of 6 weighing 18kg to £32/head and £28/head. S Walker, Beoley had a pen of 9 weighing 25kg to £27/head. Plainer sorts generally £20-25.
