Trade on the whole picked up today across the board with more buyers in attendance. 161 head sold today, with better quality pigs selling on much better trade, plainer sorts still hard work.

Smaller entry of breeding pigs today notable prices were two in-pig large white sows from Wythenshawe Community Farm, Manchester realising £130 and £120. An Oxford Sandy and Black Gilt from E Gibson, Horton realised £90 and a Saddleback sow realised £80 from S Thompson, Belper.

Only 8 porkers today from J McAleenan, Penkridge, with a pen of 4 weighing 65kg realising £60/head and a pen of 4 weighing 61kg achieving £50/head from the same home.

Some smart pens of stores on offer today with top prices from R Shimwell, Hulland Village with a pen of 9 weighing 44kg realising £48/head. D H Poulson, Llangadog had two smart pens with a pen of 10 weighing 43kg realising £47/head and a pen of 11 weighing 36kg realising £47/head.
Weaners (73) Average £21.34
Top prices for weaners today from J Robinson, Church Broughton for a pen of 9 pure Gloucester Old Spots weighing 24kg realising £40/head, with another pen weighing 19kg realising £28/head. Other top prices for a pen of 10 Gloucester Old Spot weaners from S Thompson, Belper weighing 13kg realised £32/head.
