Breeding Section
A small entry in the breeders this week with an Aberdeen Angus breeding cow topping at £1750 for C McMillan of Congleton.
Young Bulls
A 10-month-old British Blue bull sold to £1310 for C Betteridge of Fillongley and a Saler bull at 11 months old also achieved £1310 for R Watson of Fenny Bentley.
The overall average for young bulls was £1045.26.
Steers
There were 194 steers on offer this week with a 29-month-old Limousin topping the day at £2300 for M & G Brown of Ashbourne. A 32-month-old Limousin sold to £2260 for CE Hine of Biddulph who also had another at 34 months which achieved £2080. A pair of Limousin at 22 months old sold to £2100 for C Lymer of Cheddleton and a pair at 15 months old achieved £2020 for LAJ Turner & Son of Rownall.
A 25-month-old British Blue steer sold to £2290 for IE, M & A Wilson of Hollington who also had a bunch of three at 24 months old selling to £2160 and a single at 24 months old selling to £2100. J Greatbatch of Wetley Rocks had a 24-month-old British Blue to £2180. An 18-month-old British Blue from J, CA & DN Tomlinson of Ford sold to £2040.
A 23-month-old Hereford steer sold to £2060 for M Ratcliffe of Wetley Rocks and a Hereford at 19 months old sold to £1875 for J, CA & DN Tomlinson of Ford.
A bunch of three 23-month-old Simmental steers sold to £2000 for D Richardson of Ipstones and another bunch of three at 16 months old achieved £1930 for M Goodwin of Abbots Bromley.
A Shorthorn steer at 27 months old sold to £1940 for M Ratcliffe of Wetley Rocks.
A bunch of six Aberdeen Angus at 20 months old sold to £1895 for D H Jones & Son of Crewe with a single at 24 months old achieving £1880 for W & N Sherratt & Son of Hartington.
A 34-month-old Friesian sold to £1890 for CE Hine of Biddulph.
In the younger cattle, a 14-month-old Limousin sold to £1845 for A Seabridge of Hollywood, a pair of 11-month-old Simmental sold to £1790 for JJ & WE Bower of Hyde who also had a pair of 12-month-old British Blue to £1695.
The overall average for steers was a £1438.97.
Heifers
143 heifers were on offer with a 17-month-old Charolais topping the field at £1900 from Amy Seabridge of Hollywood.
A bunch of three British Blue at 24 months old sold to £1875 for J Greatbatch of Wetley Rocks, a single at 23 months achieved £1850 from M & G Brown of Ashbourne, a pair at 24 months sold to £1800 for Beech Cliffe Farm Partners of Beech and a bunch of five at 19 months old sold to £1790 for D Machin of Rudyard.
A pair of 17-month-old Simmental sold to £1810 for NM Darlington of Nantwich with another pair at 23 months old achieving £1780 for J Greatbatch of Wetley Rocks.
A bunch of five 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £1795 for A Beech of Milton and a bunch of four at 25 months old sold to £1780 for W & N Sherratt & Son of Hartington.
A 29-month-old Hereford sold to £1765 from M Tidmarsh of Wetley Rocks, A Beech of Milton sold a Hereford at 25 months old for £1750 and a pair of Herefords at 20 months old sold to £1710 from Alcock Bros of Ford.
A 26-month-old Limousin heifer sold to £1705 for C Lymer of Cheddleton with another at 21 months old achieving £1700 from Alcock Bros of Ford.
In the younger cattle, a pair of 15-month-old Limousin sold to £1615 for G & E Fallows of Whiston and a pair of 14-month-old Charolais achieved £1590 from D Byard of Chesterfield.
The overall average for heifers was £1309.44.
