Breeding Section
Breeding cattle meeting a good enquiry up to £1870 for a Limousin cow with a Limousin Heifer calf at foot, from Paul Brook of Mayfield, with another outfit with a Limousin Bull calf at foot, from the same vendor, at £1850 and two more at £1680 and £1610.
Messrs Myatt of Gratton topped at £1530 for a Hereford cow with a Heifer calf at foot with another Hereford cow with a Hereford Bull calf at foot, for the same vendor, at £1505.
Bulling Heifers from Malcolm Beardmore of Ipstones, sold up to £1020 for a 26-month-old Simmental.
Young Bulls
In the Young Bull section there was only a small entry with £960 being the top price for a 19-month-old Charolais from Messrs Evans of Macclesfield, a 15-month-old Hereford from Messrs Bower of Hyde at £955 and a 7-month-old Blonde from Messrs Taylor of Rugeley at £680.
Steers
There were 255 Steers on offer with the overall average being £998.60, seeing a top price of £1755 for a 24-month-old South Devon from Ian Hollis of Burton on Trent with Charolais from RF Lomas & Partners of Wincle, at 26 months of age, up to £1750 and another Charolais, at 23 months of age, from the same vendor, at £1500.
Limousin steers from Arthur Swinson of Gawsworth, at 21 months of age, sold up to £1675 with a 13-month-old Limousin, from Robert and Andy Williamson of Wetley Rocks, at £1615 and a bunch of three 21-month-old Limousin from Colin Lymer of Cheddleton at £1575.
Aberdeen Angus steers form Arthur Swinson of Gawsworth, at 24 months, sold up to £1645 for a bunch of three with a bunch of five from DH Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel, at 25 months, at £1575 and a pair of 23-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from Messrs Griffin of Ashbourne, at £1490.
British Blue steers from Mark Ratcliffe and Family of Wetley Rocks, at 22 months, sold up to £1595 with another single 13-month-old British Blue steer, from Robert and Andy Williamson at £1570.
Blonde steers from H & R Nash of Marchington, at 21 months, sold up to £1355 with Hereford steers at 26 months, form Brian Wainwright of Meerbrook, up to £1335 and Simmental steers from H & R Nash of Marchington at 21 months selling up to £1295.
Shorthorn steers at 19 months, topped at £1175 from Brian Wainwright.
Younger cattle sold up to £1185 for a 12-month-old British Blue from Robert and Andy Williamson with Simmental from J M Robinson of Swythamley, at 12 months, up to £1030.
Heifers
There were 201 heifers on offer with a pair of Charolais topping the section, at 27 months of age, at £1615 for Messrs Evans of Macclesfield with a 26-month-old Limousin, from Ann Beech of Milton, selling for £1500 and a pair of 21-month-old Limousin from Colin Lymer of Cheddleton, at £1455.
Aberdeen Angus heifers from J R Bloor of Barnshaw near Crewe, at 23 months, sold for £1490 with others at 25 months, from DH Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel, at £1450 and a pair of 25-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from WA Durose & Son of Stanton, at £1410.
British Blue heifers from Robert and Andy Williamson sold up to £1405 with a bunch of five 19-month-old British Blue heifers from H & R Nash at £1350.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1400 for a 12-month-old Simmental heifer from Robert and Andy Williamson with an 11 month old British Blue heifers, from the same vendors, at £1175 and another at £1160.
Overall average achieved for Heifers was £919.88.
