A total entry of 420 Store and Breeding Cattle were on offer with buyers continuing to attend from a wide area.
Breeding Section
There was an increased entry of breeding cattle which saw in-calf Charolais heifers, from S Kidd Farmers of Longnor, selling up to £1580 and £1320 being in-calf to Saler with a part dispersal, from Mr D J Latchford of Seacroft Farm, selling up to £1360 for a Limousin cow, having run with the Limousin bull, with other cows of a similar note, from the same vendor, at £1295 and £1200.
A Limousin cow with a Limousin Heifer calf at foot, again, from Mr Latchford, exchanged hands for £1275.
A part dispersal from Tixal Farms sold up to £1170 for an in-calf British Blue heifer with an in-calf Hereford heifer achieving £1025.
Stock Bulls
Hereford stock bull, from M Taylor of Stalbridge, at 28months old, exchanged hands for £1210 with a Hereford feeding bull, from Hambleton Bros of Calton was well sold at £1110 at 15 months of age with 7-month-old Limousin feeding bulls, from D J Latchford & Son, topping at £900.
A 15-month-old Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Gabbott of Rainow achieved £870.
Steers
There is a particularly strong trade for the stronger cattle being fuelled by the recent increase in finished prices.
There were 218 steers on offer topping at £1695 for a 28-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from Philip Taylor of Rainow, with a bunch of three 26 month old Aberdeen Angus, from H Lomas & Sons of Gawsworth, at £1630 and a bunch of three 27 month old Aberdeen Angus, from SA Edge of St Winifreds, at £1595 and a pair of 24 month old Aberdeen Angus, from AC Scott of Knutsford, selling particularly well at £1590 with others at £1585 and £1510.
Limousin steers from Gardiner Farming of Betchton sold at 26 months of age to £1540 with a pair of 18-month-old Limousin from Hambleton Bros of Calton at £1385.
Shorthorn steers, at 20 months of age, from Ipstones sold up to £1530 with another 17-month-old Shorthorn from Gardiner Farming at £1450.
Simmental steers from SA Edge of St Winifreds, at 27 months of age, sold for £1500 with Herefords up to £1460 at 22 months of age from Messrs Yates of Cropper Lane and a bunch of four 20-month-old Hereford steers, from John Brookes of Crakemarsh selling well at £1450 with a single 25-month-old Hereford from Tom Johnson of Bosley at £1440.
British Blue steers at 26 months of age from H & R Nash of Marchington achieved up to £1450 with another 23-month-old British Blue steer from Messrs Yates at £1430.
Norwegian Red steers from Francis Goodwin of Wincle, at 23 months old, sold up to £1300.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1310 for a pair of 9-month-old British Blue steers from Graham Jones of Langley with a 12-month-old Limousin steer from Gardiner Farming at £1260 and a pair of 12 month old Simmental steers from Malcolm Beardmore of Ipstones selling particularly well at £1220. A single 11-month-old Aberdeen Angus steer from AC Scott of Knutsford exchanged hands for £1200.
Overall average achieved for Steers was £969.42.
Heifers
There were 136 heifers on offer topping at £1530 for a single 22-month-old British Blue Heifer from D & R Nicholls of Park Lane at £1530 with other British Blue heifers, at 22 months of age, from the same vendor at £1395 and a bunch of three 21-month-old British Blue heifers at £1390.
Aberdeen Angus heifers, from SA Edge of St Winifreds, at 28 months of age, topped at £1460 with a pair of 19-month-old Aberdeen Angus heifers, from AG Mellor of Sutton, at £1455.
A bunch of three 23-month-old Charolais heifers from H & R Nash of Marchington sold for £1430 with Shorthorn heifers from Ipstones at 21 months of age up to £1375.
Hereford heifers from Messrs Gabbott of Rainow, at 21 months of age, sold for £1295 with another bunch of four 20-month-old Hereford heifers from John Brookes of Crakemarsh at £1280.
Younger cattle sold up to £1150 for a bunch of six 13-month-old British blue heifers from The Machin Family of Rudyard with a bunch of three 10-month-old Blonde heifers from EG Taylor & Partners of Rugeley at £875 and a 10 month old Hereford from Tom Johnson of Bosley at £800.
Overall average achieved was £936.58.
