An entry of 451 Store and Breeding cattle were on offer, including the part dispersal on behalf of Tom Campbell of Cheadle which included mainly Pedigree Angus cows with calves at foot another good show for the time of year with plenty of buyers in attendance ensuring a strong trade for all categories of stock.
Breeding Section
There was the part dispersal on behalf of Tom Campbell of Cheadle with Pedigree Angus cows with calves at foot which sold up to £1900 or an Angus cow with a strong Angus male calf at foot with others up to £1870 for a similar outfit, £1780 for another outfit, £1560 for an Aberdeen Angus pedigree cow with an Angus heifer calf at foot.
2 Pedigree stock bulls from the same vendor sold up to £1990 and £1850.
A Purebred Charolais stock bull from Mrs Sheila Kidd of Quarnford sold for £2210 with a White Shorthorn bull from John Elliott of Sheffield at £1780.
Young Bulls
There were 22 on offer which topped at £1940 for a 12 month old Limousin from Messrs Mellor of Sutton with a Longhorn 9 month old bull from Reg Potter & Family of Yeaveley selling for £910 and a 13 month old Hereford bull from Blackberry Farm Ltd at £870.
Steers
There were 199 steers on offer which topped at £1620 for a 19 month old Limousin from K L Potts of Mottram St Andrews with other Limousins up to £1500 from J J Watson & Family of Marple at 13 months of age with Messrs Potts selling 14 month old and 16 month old Limousin steers for £1490 apiece.
Another 13 month old Limousin from Messrs Watson of Marple sold at £1380.
There were 2 Aberdeen Angus 25 month old steers from D H Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel which sold for £1480 with a bunch of 6, 16 month old Angus steers from T & R Allen at £1245.
British Blue steers from D & R Nicholls at 21 months of age up to £1410 with a pair of 17 month old Simmentals selling particularly well from J M Robinson & Family of Swythamley.
Another 3, 12 month old Limousins from Martyn Wright and Family of Hartington were well sold at £1220 with a 27 month old Fleckvieh steer at 27 months old achieving £1210 from R Hall & Sons of Croxden and another bunch of 3, 13 month old Simmentals from J M Robinson of Swythamley at £1140.
A longhorn 17 month old steer from Bottom Lane achieved £1370 with a bunch of 3,17 month old Herefords from P Witham of Marston Montgomery at £1125. A pair of 11 month old Limousin steers from Alan Hayes of Alstonefield topped at £1170 with a pair of 12 month old Hereford steers from Messrs Bower of Carr House Farm at £1135.
Overall average for steers was £952.59
Heifers
There were 188 heifers on offer which topped at £1395 for a 20 month old Limousin from J J Turner of Oakover with a 13 month old Limousin from Martyn Wright & Family of Hartington selling particularly well for £1340 and another excellent shaped Limousin again 13 month old from J J Watson of Marple at £1335.
Another pair 13 month old Limousin heifers again from Martyn Wright of Hartington sold for £1295.
A Hereford heifer from P & MA Lovatt of Gillow Heath at 21 months of age achieved £1305 with a 16 month old Simmental heifer from Messrs Woodcock of Lower cliff Farm selling for £1230 and a bunch of 4, 22 month old British Blue heifers from Beech Cliffe Farm at Trentham at £1220 with a bunch of 5, 19 month old Simmental heifers from J B Rowlinson & Sons of Gawsworth at £1185 and a pair of 10 month old Simmental heifers from D J Badham of Abbotts Bromley selling well at £1060.
5 Limousin heifers at 11 months of age from Alan Hayes of Alstonefield achieved £1010 with the average achieved for heifers being £812.36.
