There were 422 Store and Breeding cattle on offer with trade very firm in all sections.
Breeding Section
There was only a small entry of Sucklers with an Aberdeen Angus in calf heifer from Messrs Barnett of Holmes Chapel exchanging hands for £1220.
Young Bulls
There was an entry of 30 sold to a top price of £980 for a 15 month old Hereford from Adam Shaw of Ashbourne with an 18 month old Hereford from Messrs Arkingstall of Stafford at £810 and a bunch of 4, 9 month old Limousins from M & D Barber of Blore selling well for £785.
Other Limousin of similar age from the same vendor sold up to £690 with an 8 month old Angus from EJ & DC Kidd of Quarnford at £675.
Overall average for young bulls was £592.67.
Steers
There were 228 steers on offer producing a very pleasing average of £934.23 with a top price being £1385 achieved for a 23 month old Simmental from Curbishley Farms Limited of Congleton with another pair of Simmentals at 14 months of age from M Goodwin of Abbotts Bromley at £1255 and a pair of 14 month old Simmentals from David and Liz Andrews of Flash at £1190.
Simmental steers from Bill Carbutt of Siddington sold up to £1300 for 20 month old cattle with another 24 month old British Blue steer from J Pudsey of Quarnford at £1195. Aberdeen Angus steers topped at £1280 for a 20 month old beast from WS Bartlem of Grindley with a bunch of 3 from Bullock Farms of Congleton at 22 months of age exchanging hands for £1275. Another 18 month old Angus from Peter Richardson of Ipstones sold for £1230.
Herefords from Roy Sant of Endon at 29 months of age were well bid for up to £1230 with another 21 month old Hereford from Adam Shaw of Ashbourne at £1100.
Charolais steers from Curbishley Farms Limited of Congleton at 17 months of age sold for £1145.
Younger cattle sold up to £1075 for a bunch of 6, 9 month old Limousins from Andrew & Tim Carr of Waterfall with another bunch of 9 month old steers from the same vendor at £1000 and 4, 8 month old Limousins from Des Alcock at £955.
A single 10 month old Simmental steers from Messrs Read of Knutsford sold for £1015 and another pair from the same vendor at 10 months of age sold for £930.
There was a particularly strong trade for the younger well shaped cattle with vendors being well pleased with the prices achieved throughout.
Heifers
There were 163 heifers on offer with a top price being £1220 for a bunch of 4, 25 month old British Blue heifers from Bill Carbutt of Siddington with a single 23 month old British Blue heifer from J Pudsey of Quarnford at £1195 and a bunch of 3, 20 month old British Blue heifers from John and Gary Fryer of Horton at £1100.
Simmental heifers from W S Bartram of Grindley at 24 months of age sold up to £1195 with another from Messrs Read of Knutsford at 18 months of age at £1120 and a bunch of 3, 19 months old Limousin from Joe Austin of Parwich at £1115 and another bunch of 3 of similar age from J Pudsey at £1135.
Hereford heifers were well bid for from Peter Mitchell of Stafford and at 22 months of age sold for £1110 with Aberdeen Angus heifers from PJ Buxton of Ashbourne at 17 months of age selling for £1095 with a Montbeliarde from FA & TM Cotton of Tean at £1090.
Younger cattle sold up to £930 for a 9 month old good shaped beast from Tom James of Eccleshall with a bunch of 4, 9 month old Blondes from the same vendor at £820 and a bunch of 6, 8 month old Limousins from EJ & DC Kidd of Quarnford selling particularly well for £785. 4 Simmental heifers from David & Liz Andrews of Flash exchanged hands for £770.
The overall average achieved for heifers was £818.16.
