Breeding Section
Again, a short supply of Breeding Stock with those on offer meeting good demand, seeing a top price of £1585 for a Saler Cow with a Charolais Bull Calf at foot, from S Kidd Farmers of Longnor, with the same farmers selling another Saler Cow, with a Charolais Heifer Calf at foot, for £1440.
An older Hereford Cow, with a Limousin Steer Calf at foot, from Roy Critchlow of Flash, achieved £1190.
Young Bulls
Top price for Young Bulls was £940, paid for an 11-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from P Evans of Werrington, with a 10-month-old Limousin, from David and John Bradbury of Ipstones, at £920 and a 6-month-old Limousin, from P Evans of Werrington, at £880.
Four 8-month-old Limousin, from Johnathon Hall of Longnor, achieved £780.
Steers
There were 269 Steers on offer with a pleasing overall average of £1002.42, seeing a top price of £1690 achieved for a pair of Blonde Steers from JH Kirk & Sons of Great Warford, with Shorthorn Steers, at 26 months of age, from David Watkins, selling for £1670 and another Shorthorn Steer, at 21 months of age, at £1600.
Aberdeen Angus Steers achieved up to £1640 for a bunch of three, from AG Mellor of Sutton, with other Aberdeen Angus, at 21 months of age at £1520 from the same vendor.
Simmental Steers, at 24 months of age, sold up to £1585, with another bunch of three Simmental, at 24 months of age, from JH Kirk & Sons of Great Warford, at £1500.
Welsh Black Steers, from KW Dakin & Son of Macclesfield, topped at £1495 with Herefords, at 21 months of age, up to £1480.
A dairy Shorthorn Steer, at 24 months of age, was well sold at £1445.
British Blue Steers, from A Mitchell & Sons of Knutsford, at 19 months of age, sold up to £1370 with Friesian Steers, from Peter Naden of Cheddleton, at 26 months of age up to £1180.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1290, for a pair of 9-month-old Limousin, from Robert Flower & Family of Alstonefield, and £1210 for a bunch of three 10-month-old British Blue Steers, from the same vendor, with a single 10-month-old Limousin, from Alan Swindells of Elkstones, at £1180
An 11-month-old Aberdeen Angus Steer, from JR Bloor of Crewe, was well sold at £1090 and four 10-month-old Limousin Steers, from David Naylor of Glossop, at £1040.
Heifers
There were 222 Heifers on offer and the top price paid was £1640 for a 23 month old Shorthorn, from David Watkins of Ipstones, with another 21 month old Shorthorn at £1600, seeing British Blue Heifers, at 28 months of age, from Peter Naden of Cheddleton, up to £1460, Simmental Heifers, at 23 months of age, up to £1375 and a 22 month old Simmental, from Des Alcock of Elkstones, at £1340.
Charolais Heifers, from Ros Worthington of Edale, at 18 months of age, topped at £1260 with three British Blue Heifers, from Des Alcock of Elkstones, at 22 months of age, at £1245.
Aberdeen Angus Heifers, at 24 months of age, topped at £1220, for Miss Brooke Goldstraw of Meerbrook, with another three 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus Heifers, from JS Sheard of Congleton, at £1195.
Hereford Heifers sold up to £1095, at 24 months old, from Old Hall Farm Partners of Betley, with younger cattle selling up to £990 for a bunch of four 10-month-old Limousin, from David Naylor of Glossop, and six 10 month old Shorthorn Heifers, from S Morrall of Cauldon Low at £800.
The average achieved for Heifers was £843.30
