Breeding Section
More breeding cattle on offer this week, seeing a top price of £1680 for a Pedigree Hereford cow with a Hereford calf at foot from Westwood Farming, with other outfits from the same vendor at £1410 (twice).
A British Blue cow with a Charolais heifer calf at foot, from S Kidd Farmers of Longnor, exchanged hands for £1500 and an entry of Dexter cows with calves at foot, from Frank Belfield & Family of Meerbrook, topping at £390.
Stock Bulls
A Shorthorn bull from John Howard of Ford achieved £1580 with a 2-year-old Dexter bull, from Frank Belfield & Family at £650 and a Limousin bull, from James Burke Ltd, achieving £1470.
Young Bulls
There was a shortage of young bulls on offer this week with 8-month-old Hereford bulls, from Messrs Harris of Alkmonton, achieving £455.
Steers
There were 276 steers on offer to return an average of £1082, with a top price of £1780 paid for an 18 month old Limousin from Steve Machin of Stanley, a 27 month old Limousin from Peter Richardson of Ipstones at £1760 and a 17 month old Limousin, again from Steve Machin of Stanley, at £1730.
A pair of 18-month-old Limousin realised £1690 and another 27 month old Limousin from Peter Richardson at £1670.
Charolais steers, from K W Dakin & Son of Macclesfield, at 24 months old, were well sold up to £1720 with four 14 month old Charolais, from D Bowers of Shredicote, at £1710 and a single 29 month old Charolais, from Keith Burton of Uttoxeter, at £1625.
Simmental steers from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at 28 months old, topped at £1640, a pair of Aberdeen Angus steers from Rushton Spencer, at 27 months of age, at £1615, a pair of 20 month old Aberdeen Angus, from Messrs Gould of Waterhouses, at £1550 and another pair at 25 months old from Rushton Spencer at £1495.
Blonde steers at 28 months old topped at £1530, with Longhorns at 25 months old to £1480 and Holsteins at 24 months old, from Messrs Gould of Waterhouses, at £1470.
Hereford steers achieved up to £1560 for a bunch of four 27-month-olds from Keith Burton of Uttoxeter with a single 23-month-old Hereford steer from the same vendor at £1490.
Dairy Shorthorns at 24 months old were well sold up to £1400 for Messrs Gould of Waterhouses.
Younger cattle topped at £1280 for a bunch of three 13-month-old Limousin from Ben Rowlinson of Bottomhouse with an 8-month-old Limousin, from E Etches of Elkstones, at £1090 and a bunch of three 11 month old Limousin from Ben Rowlinson at £1025.
A bunch of three Aberdeen Angus 11-month-old steers, again from the same vendor, achieved £995.
Heifers
There were 260 heifers on offer to return an average of £914, these saw a top price of £1650 for a 17-month-old British Blue heifer, from Steve Machin of Stanley, with another single 31-month-old British Blue heifer, from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at £1470 and a bunch of four 24 month old Limousin British Blue heifers from Steve Machin at £1450.
Limousin heifers, from J Mansfield & Son of Ashby de la Zouch, at 16 months were well sold at £1470 with a single 25-month-old Limousin heifer from, P J Stephens of Mottram, at £1465 and a single 21-month-old Limousin from James Swindells of Elkstones at £1430.
Simmental heifers, from Pilkington Farmers of Hartington, at 26 months old sold for £1400 with a bunch of five 24-month-old Aberdeen Angus, from P Naden of Cheddleton, at £1325.
Holstein heifers, from D R H Agri of Poynton, at 32 months, sold for £1175 with Flekvieh heifers, from Pilkington Farmers, at 26 months, realised £1140.
13-month-old Limousin heifers from Messrs Ratcliffe of Rodsley up to £1050, a 13 month old British Blue heifer from J Mansfield & Son of Ashby de la Zouch at £1290 and a 13 month old Simmental heifer, from Dave Machin of Rudyard, at £1075.
