Store Cattle Sale Report 5th December

An increased entry of 472 store and breeding cattle were on offer with a good firm trade throughout.

Breeding Section

There was a shortage of breeding cattle with a Simmental heifer with a Simmental heifer calf at foot from Messrs Storer of Bosley topping at £1060 and In Calf cows from Messrs Turner of Rainow up to £920 for an aged Limousin cow believe to be in calf to the Hereford.
An entry of Dexter cows with calves at foot from Mr Clift of Rugeley sold up to £425.

Young Bulls

There were 75 young bulls on offer with a top price of £1210 paid for a 14 month old Limousin bull from Messrs Harris of Alkmonton with the same vendor selling other Limousin bulls at 14 months of age for £1140 and £1040. A younger 11 month old Limousin from the same vendor sold for £880 with Angus 19 month old bulls from Harrison Partners of Rushton at £620, a 7 month old Charolais bull from Eric Hudson of New Mills at £560 with a number of smaller sorts on offer to produce an average for young bulls of £406 per head.

Steers

There were 222 steers on offer with some good prices achieved, up to £1190 for a 24 month old Limousin from David & Sue Curtis of Basford with a 26 month old Limousin from Messrs Sessions of Dalby Lees at £1180 with another 26 month old Limousin from the same vendor at £1100.

British Blue steers from David & Sue Curtis at 23 months of age sold up to £1130 with Angus steers at 18 months of age up to £1065 with another bunch of 5, 19 month old Angus Steers at £1040 from T Campbell of Cheadle.

A Fleckveih steer at 15 months of age from Rushton Spencer sold up to £1040 with other British Blue steers at 24 months of age up tot £1030 from Richard Beech of Longsdon. The same vendor sold a 24 month old Simmental for £1005 with a bunch of 3, Herefords at 19 months of age from Rushton Spencer at £1000 and Charolais from the same vendor at 18 months of age up to £990.

A bunch of 5 named sired Shorthorn Steers from Mick Reeves & Family of Ipstones were well sold at £960.

Other younger cattle sold up to £850 for a 9 month old Hereford from G W Goodall & Partners of Cubley, £840 for a 10 month old Simmental steer from Jim & Carol Hudson of Wetton, £830 for 13 month old Shorthorns from Mick Reeves & Family, £800 for 9 month old Simmentals from W Slack of Macclesfield.
Overall average for steers was a pleasing £717.43.

Heifers

There were 161 heifers on offer which topped at £1030 for a 26 month old Limousin from Messrs Sessions of Dalbury Lees with another from the same vendor at 22 months of age at £980 and a pair of 22 month old Limousin from David & Sur Curtis at £965.

Fleckveih heifers from David & Sue Curtis at 24 months of age sold up to £995 with Simmental heifers from Messrs Storer of Bosley at 27 months of age at £975. British Blue heifers from John Carr of Cheddleton sold up to £905 at 22 months of age with younger cattle selling up to £660 for a 9 month old Simmental from Malcolm Beardmore of Ipstones and £650 for 10 month old Simmentals from Jim & Carol Hudson.

Overall average for heifers was £581.71
