Store Cattle Sale Report 6th June

274 Store and Breeding Cattle were seen and sold on Saturday, seeing an increase in the average prices from a fortnight ago due to lack of availability on the day.

Breeding Section
Topping the breeding cattle were three Aberdeen Angus cows and calves for JE Thraves of Chesterfield which sold to £2820, £2740 and £2560 with another to £2260 from the same vendor. CA Paruzel of Ipstones also sold an Aberdeen Angus cow and calf to £2560.

Stock Bulls
A Hereford bull sold to £2550 for GH Grass of Congleton and a Limousin bull sold to £2200 for F & J Barlow of Froghall.

Young Bulls
Weaned bulls sold well with a Charolais at 18 months old achieving £1710 for S & S Brain of Cresswell, a pair of 12-month-old Shorthorn bulls sold to £1360 for J & R Potts of Macclesfield and a Highland bull at 14 months old sold to £1250 for K & A Gould of Thornclifffe.

The overall average for young bulls was £1171.25.

Steers
There were 126 steers on offer with a 24-month-old Limousin topping the day at £2290 from J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle with the same vendor having another at 23 months achieving £2160 and JD Pickford & Son of Leek sold a bunch of four Limousin steers at 24 months old to £1865.

Charolais steers at 18 months old achieved £2170 for M Lancaster of Congleton with the same vendor having another at 18 months old to £1890.

A 19-month-old British Blue steer sold to £2110 for M Lancaster of Congleton with a British Blue at 15 months old achieving £1840 for The Red Lion Inn ltd of Stone.

A bunch of three 24-month-old Holstein steers sold to £1990 for DM James of Mow Cop.

A 26-month-old Aberdeen Angus sold to £1990 for J Brough & Son of Rudyard, a bunch of six at 22 months old sold to £1870 for DH Jones & Son of Crewe, a bunch of four at 19 months old sold to £1830 for Anfield House Farm of Uttoxeter and a trio at 21 months old achieved £1820 for J Brough & Son of Rudyard.

A pair of 20-month-old Hereford steers sold to £1740 for The Red lion Inn Ltd of Stone and a trio of Herefords at 22 months old achieved £1710 for P Witham of Marston Montgomery.

A pair of 26-month-old Friesians sold to £1500 for BE Wain of Siddington and a 25-month-old Belted Galloway sold to £1480 for R Jackson of Bagnall.

Younger cattle achieved some remarkable prices with a 13-month-old Limousin achieving £2200 for RG & AS Wiliamson of Wetley Rocks, who had another at 13 months old selling to £2090 and two at 14 months old achieved £1980 and £1950 for the same vendor.

A 9-month-old Charolais achieved £1590 for NM Hammersley of Stafford, a 13-month-old Simmental sold to £1590 for JM Robinson of Swythamley and a pair of 8-month-old British Blue steers achieved £1510 for P Hall & T Hunt of Combs.

The overall average for steers was a £1502.74, an increase of over £120 on a fortnight ago.

Heifers
There were 113 heifers on offer, topping at £2020 for a 14-month-old Limousin from RG & AS Williamson of Wetley Rocks, J Jervis Partnership of Cheadle had a bunch of five Limousin at 24 months old to £1970 and a pair at 24 months old to £1920 for the same vendor.

A trio of British Blue heifers at 22 months old sold to £1915 for Broomfields Farm of Uttoxeter, a bunch of five at 30 months old sold to £1890, a trio at 21months old sold for £1890 and a pair at 23 months old sold to £1870 all for the same vendor.

A pair of Simmental heifers at 25 months old sold to £1800 for JM Robinson of Swythamley with a single at 24 months achieving £1790 for the same vendor.

A 27-month-old Blonde sold to £1770 for D & L Haynes of Stone and a 26-month-old Hereford achieved £1480 for RJ Teeboon of Chelmorton.

A trio of Aberdeen Angus at 20 months old sold to £1390 for JA Godber of Belper who had a single at 27 months old to £1360, a pair at 16 months sold to £1390 for KW & AM Minshull of Bosley and two bunches of five at 13 months old sold to £1340 and £1330 for G & R Waller of Macclesfield.

The overall average for heifers was £1393.32, over £140 up on a fortnight ago.
