Store Cattle Sale Report 8th June

414 Store & Breeding Cattle were on offer with plenty of trade from a good company of buyers.

Breeding Section
Top price of the day was £2350 which was achieved for an in-calf Limousin cow from Tony Sayer of Hilderstone, with a special entry of Limousin cows with calves at foot, from Paul Brooke of Mayfield, selling up to £1780 for an outfit with a heifer calf at foot with others at £1660 and £1600.
British Blue X cows with Aberdeen Angus calves at foot, from Richard Heatley of Dilhorne, topped at £1450 with another similar outfit at £1400.
A pedigree Shorthorn Bull from John Tatton of Wetley Rocks, at 64 months of age, was bid for keenly and exchanged hands for £2020.

Young Bulls
There was a small entry of young bulls, mainly smaller sorts, selling up to £510 for an 11-month-old Simmental X from Messrs Mitchell & Bradley of Congleton.

Steers
There were 192 Steers on offer with again some excellent prices being achieved.
Top price was £1655 for a 24-month-old Limousin, from Jason Jervis of Cheadle, with a 24-month-old Limousin from PJ Stephens of Macclesfield at £1580 and a pair of 15-month-old Limousins, from Peter Witham of Marston Montgomery, at £1165.
British Blue steers from Jason Jervis, at 25 months of age, sold up to £1610 with others from the same vendor at 25 months of age at £1560 and a single from Stuart Frith of Thorpe, at 20 months of age, realising £1545.
Aberdeen Angus steers from Jason Jervis, at 24 months old, sold up to £1495 with another from D & R Nicholls of South Wingfield, at 21 months of age, realising £1355.
Hereford Steers from Arthur Seabridge of Hartwell, at 23 months of age, sold up to £1435 with another pair at 26 months of age, from Gavin Peach of Warslow, at £1425 and a 27-month-old Hereford from Messrs Beeston of Fairoak at £1400.
Charolais steers from R & M Hunter & Son of Quarnford, at 25 months of age, were well sold up to £1385 with Shorthorn steers at 24 months of age, up to £1300 from Gilmans Ltd of Thorpe.
A Swedish Red steer from Messrs Blackburn of Lymm, at 24 months old, sold up to £1290 and a bunch of four Brown Swiss Steers at 25 months of age from Gilmans Ltd of Thorpe at £1185.
Flekvieh steers at 21 months of age, sold up to £1115, once again, from Messrs Gilman.
Younger cattle achieved up to £1270 for a 9-month-old Blonde from Tom James of Eccleshall with 12-month-old Limousins from Alan Hayes of Alstonefield at £1045 and a bunch of four 13 month old Limousins from WJ Braddock of Hulme at £1000.

Overall average for Steers was £931.

Heifers
There were 191 heifers which topped at £1490 paid for a bunch of three 27-month-old Aberdeen Angus from DH Jones & Son of Holmes Chapel with other Aberdeen Angus from the same vendor at 26 months of age selling for £1300 and a 22-month-old Aberdeen Angus heifer from Messrs Blackburn of Lymm at £1165.

Limousin heifers from Messrs Mellor of Rugeley, at 25 months of age, were well sold at £1480 with another bunch of three 24-month-old Limousin heifers from PJ Stephens of Macclesfield at £1380.
British Blue heifers from Jason Jervis, at 25 months of age sold for £1425 with a bunch of five 21-month-old British Blue heifers from Messrs Fryer of Horton at £1230 and a pair of 27-month-old British Blue heifers from Brian Wainwright of Meerbrook at £1165.
Hereford heifers from Gavin Peach of Warslow, at 23 months of age, sold for £1380 with another bunch of three Hereford Heifers, at 25 months of age, from the same vendors at £1185.
Welsh Black heifers from Messrs Shaw of Burton on Trent, at 25 months of age, sold for £1045.
Younger cattle topped at £960 for a bunch of five 11-month-old Limousin heifers from Alan Hayes of Alstonefield with a 12 month old Limousin from Mr Braddock of Hulme at £930.

Overall average achieved for Heifers was £875.
