Another busy Tuesday, and marking one year one from the start of Lockdown, we are grateful to all our customers who have supported us over the last year and for your co-operation.
A good entry of barren cattle sold on a strong trade, with cows to 168p/kg to average 121.13p/kg or £813.96 per head, with clean up to 214p/kg for a Limousin Bull
A seasonal entry in the sheep section with hogget’s continuing to sell well, with the best up to 316p/kg to average at 279p/kg and £122 overall. A small selection of Spring Lambs sold to 285p/kg and ewes a fast trade up to £150 .
A shortage of best quality dairies this Tuesday with the best up to £1760 for a second calver, and youngstock up to £1040.
Buyers galore for calves and a tremendous trade for those forward, selling up to £445 for Limousin bull calves and heifers to £380. If you have calves to sell, get them to Leek on Tuesday!
Pigs in good demand once again, especially for the quality types with bacon pigs up to 142p/kg and cutters to 139p/kg.

Heifers sold to 195p/kg for a 525kg Aberdeen Angus and 178p/kg for a 595kg Aberdeen Angus, both from RE & KM Clowes, Cheadle.
Overage steers sold at 144p/kg for a 520kg Shorthorn from Bill Waters, Upper Hulme, and a 955kg Aberdeen Angus bull realised 128p/kg for Louise Plant, Bradnop.

A small entry sold up to 214p/kg for a 610kg Limousin bull from C H Barnsley, Morridge to gross £1305.40.
Hereford steers sold to 198p/kg for a 620kg steer and 192p/kg for a 675kg steer, both from M Robinson, Longsdon, to gross £1227.60 and £1296 respectively.
Black & white bulls sold up to 167p/kg for a 535kg Friesian, and 165p/kg for a 525kg Friesian, both from J E Archer & Sons, Hilton., to gross £893.45 and £866.25 respectively.

Quality was a little lacking in the dairy shed on Tuesday with the best to £1760 for a second calver from Richard Green of Whiston with two others cows also at the same money from Malcolm Trevor-Jones.

continue to sell well with bulling heifers from Messrs Moss to £1040 and the special entry of Monty x heifers from Messrs Sharman seeing Jersey x Montbeliarde Yearlings to £690, 5 month old heifers to £580 and calves to £380.

Another decent trade for pigs this Tuesday, with some good quality fat pigs forward.
Cutting pigs sold up to 139p/kg for 79kg pigs from P J Bowers, Mow Cop, with a 83kg pig at 132p/kg for David Goldstraw, Meerbrook and 124p/kg for a 79kg pig from P J Bowers, Mow Cop.
Bacon pigs topped at 142p/kg twice, for a 100kg pig from PF & PD Parsons and for a pair of 96kg pigs from David Goldstraw, Meerbrook. The Parsons also sold bacon pigs at 140p/kg twice, with 140p/kg also paid for two other pens from J & B Fentem, who sold others at 138p/kg twice and 136p/kg twice.
Heavy pigs sold to 138p/kg twice, for a 117kg pig from S Bailey, Biddulph and a pair of 108kg pigs from J & B Fentem. David Goldstraw had 134p/kg twice for 120kg pigs and 118p/kg for a 110kg pig from S Bailey.
Cull sows topped at 84p/kg for a 249kg sow from G H Davies, Prion who also sold 249kg sow and a 238kg sow at 80p/kg.

A seasonal entry saw a slightly steadier trade, as witnessed nationally. Best still nicely over 300p/kg topping at 316p/kg from Ron Tomkinson, Butterton. Best big lambs flying away to £146.98 per head and still plenty at £140 and better. Overall average of £122/head or 279p/kg.
