The final store and breeding pig sale of 2021 offered 95 head of pigs, with a variety of breeding, store and weaner pigs on offer. A mixed trade throughout with breeding pigs generally a slow trade from start to finish, store and weaners were steady to start, with trade much improving towards the latter.
Breeding Pigs (21);
A mixed entry of breeding pigs today with trade slow throughout. Notable prices included £165 for a Saddleback sow with 6 at foot. Other prices included £60 for a Saddleback sow in-pig to a Duroc boar.
Store Pigs (15);
A small entry of store pigs today average £43.47. top prices included a pen of 4 Oxford Sandy and Black gilts from JS & M Hollinrake, Flagg releasing £52 per head, with another pen of 4 boars from the same home releasing £50 per head. A pen of 7 light stores from S Heeley, Seighford realised £32 per head.
Weaners (59);
Weaners a mixed trade throughout averaging £27.14 per head. A wide variety of weaners on offers today, top price a pen of 12 from S Coupland, Bradley, realising £47 per head. Other top prices included a pen of 5 from M Halliday, Mold, realising £40 per head. A pen of 8 from Milburne Charolais, Derby, released £32 per head.
